Witney Chess Club is open throughout the year apart from the summer months (usually July and August) and over Christmas.

The club has players of all standards; we have four teams in Divisions 1, 2 and 4 of the Oxfordshire Chess League for those who want to play competitive chess, but casual players who just want to play social chess are equally welcome.

For more information please contact Mike Truran at [email protected].

Pilates with Sarah

Tuesdays 10:30am to 11:30am (term time only)

Mat Pilates classes to improve your strength, flexibility, and posture in a relaxed and friendly setting.

Each session focuses on mindful movement, core stability, and alignment to help you move with greater ease in everyday life.

Suitable for all levels.

For more information please contact Sarah at [email protected].

Qigong with Dorothy

Tuesdays 12:00pm to 1:00pm
Thursdays 9.30am to 10.30am

A gentle approach into this ancient holistic way for good health. The slow circular movements cover all the body, giving you time to experience the relaxing of Qi flow energy.

This form of eastern rhythmical exercise has many benefits including strengthening muscles, ligaments, tendons and helping with flexibility and balance.

Qigong improves circulation, helps to stabilize blood pressure, whilst helping to boost your immune system.

For more information please contact Dorothy on 07816 382418.

Ducklington Morris

Tuesdays 8:00pm to 9:00pm

Morris dancing isn’t for everyone but it keeps you reasonably fit without a gym and provides an opportunity to sometimes dress in eccentric kit involving bells, ribbons and hankies! Not forgetting that dancing is said to be the best activity to keep the grey cells active.

For more information please contact Richard Ford on 01993 700482 or 07796 468591 or [email protected]

Dancemania

Various classes throughout the week (see schedule above)

Dancemania Dance Company has been established for over 23 years and is one of the longest standing dance schools in Oxfordshire. We offer a wide range of dance classes which include ballet, tap, jazz and contemporary.

Our team of qualified dance teachers have years of experience in all disciplines and can help develop and nurture the individual’s talents whether they are a beginner or training professionally. Pupils have the opportunity to work towards exams, medal tests and competitions. A professional show is also held bi-annually.

Ducklington Parish Council

First Wednesday of the Month 7:30pm – Lilac Room

Ducklington Parish Council is the local authority for the civil parish of Ducklington in Oxfordshire. It is the first tier of local government and an elected body. In common with other parish and town councils, it has variable tax raising powers to support its operations and projects. The council welcomes public attendance at meetings and minutes of all meetings are available on their website.

Meetings of the Parish Council are at 7:30pm on the first Wednesday of the month.

If you would like more information please get in touch with the Clerk at [email protected].

Warm Welcome Space

Thursdays 11:30am to 3:00pm

We offer a friendly, safe space with a free light lunch, cake and hot & cold drinks. All ages welcome.

We have found that most people enjoy coming for the company and chatting, though jigsaws, knitting, quizzes, board and card games are always available. Throughout the year we arrange speakers, craft sessions, pet visits, singing and music, film afternoons and a lot more.

Our volunteers make the refreshments, serve lunch and, most importantly, are a friendly face and love to chat.

Please join us if you can, either by visiting or becoming a volunteer. All ages are welcome.

For more information please contact Gill Long, Warm Welcome Coordinator at [email protected].

Ducklington WI

Second Thursday of the month 7:30pm

Ducklington WI meets at the village hall on the second Thursday of each month, with a programme of events planned for the coming year ahead (April to March).

We invite Guest Speakers to join us to share their enthusiasm for their specialist subject, bringing examples for us to experience and even activities to take part in. Each meeting is always educational, enjoyable and entertaining!

For more information please contact Jennifer Pratley at [email protected].

Zumba Fitness with Eugenie

Fridays 11:15am to 12:15pm

Zumba Gold is a low-impact, fun, and energizing dance fitness class designed especially for active older adults, beginners, or anyone looking for a gentler workout.

The classes are all about fun, fitness, and feeling good! Every session is filled with music, smiles, and easy-to-follow routines that combine dance and fitness in a way that suits every level.

  • No experience needed – all levels welcome, even if you’re just starting out
  • Low-impact, joint-friendly moves – perfect if you’re easing into exercise
  • Supportive, social atmosphere – the groups are friendly, inclusive, and encouraging
  • Feel-good music from around the world – Latin, international to get you dancing

It’s a great way to stay active, improve mobility and balance, and enjoy the joy of movement in a friendly, welcoming environment. Each session covers around 3,500–4,500 steps and helps improve coordination, stamina, and confidence – all while having fun!

Whether you want to improve your health, move more, meet others, or just enjoy yourself – Zumba Gold is a fantastic way to do it all.
